At the end of the play, Ariel is set free after he promises to do one last act of magic: The opera was extremely popular, and "full of so good variety, that I cannot be more pleased almost in a comedy"  according to Pepys. Not all magic, however, was considered evil.
Finally, at the climax of the play, Prospero creates a magic circle and draws his brother, Antonio; the King, Alonso; and the rest of their party inside it where they are confronted with their sins and given a chance to repent.
